PAS System’s goal is to provide quality products designed to enhance traffic enforcement efforts while making ease of use and officer safety our utmost priority.
Our Passive Alcohol Sensors allow an officer to quickly and accurately check for the presence of alcohol on a subject’s breath. The PAS Flashlight is ideal for use at checkpoints; providing discreet passive alcohol sensing and excellent safety & security for the officer at night when most DUI/DWI arrest activity takes place. Additionally, the one-hand operation keeps the other hand completely free.
A National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) Safety Report recommends “Conducting high visibility enforcement of impaired driving laws and incorporating Passive Alcohol Sensing Technology into enforcement efforts such as routine traffic stops, saturation patrols, sobriety checkpoints, and accident scene responses.”
“The NTSB concludes that passive alcohol sensors are an effective yet under-utilized technology for making an initial determination of the presence of alcohol during traffic stops or at sobriety checkpoints. Therefore, the NTSB recommends that the 50 states, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, and the District of Columbia include in their impaired driving prevention plan or highway safety plan provisions for conducting HVE of impaired driving laws using passive alcohol-sensing technology during law enforcement contacts, such as routine traffic stops, saturation patrols, sobriety checkpoints, and accident scene responses.
The increased use of passive alcohol sensors during HVE will not only increase the likelihood that drivers using alcohol will be detected by law enforcement; it may also act as a deterrent by increasing the perception that drivers risk arrest and swift and certain consequences if they choose to drive after drinking.”
PAS System’s NHTSA Certified, ALCOVISOR PBTs offer evidential-grade accuracy with the simplicity of one-button operation at an affordable price.
Combining the use of PAS System’s Alcohol Sensors with the AquilaScan Oral Fluid Drug Screener makes an effective duo in determining driver impairment.
