Description
The PAS Vr is a hand-held, rapid alcohol detection and screening instrument using a platinum electrochemical fuel cell sensor of high alcohol specificity, accuracy and stability. Designed to satisfy DOT screening requirements & zero tolerance specifications the device guarantees accurate detection of alcohol and is especially suited for quick subsequent measurements.
The unique double-duty design provides an active (direct) and passive (indirect) method for alcohol detection.
Passive Testing without a Mouthpiece
In the passive mode, the operator can screen individuals quickly without the use of a mouthpiece. A push of a button activates the unit’s pump which draws in the air sample to a fuel cell sensor. Once the sample is analyzed, the PAS Vr provides qualitative feedback on the amount of alcohol detected.
Active Testing
In the active mode, the operator attaches a mouthpiece for the collection of the breath sample and the bar graph results indicate alcohol levels in increments for 0.02% BrAC to 0.12% BrAC. The Department of Transportation (DOT) has certified the use of the Vr as an Alcohol Screening Device when used in the active mode.
